Composition:
Each film coated tablet contains:
Levonorgestrel BP …........ 1.5mg
NDICATIONS:
Levonorgestrel is an oral emergency contraceptive indicated for us within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. It should be used only as an emergency measure. Women who present for repeated courses of emergency contraception should be advised to consider long-term methods of contraception.
CONTRAINDICATION:
Levonorgestrel should be given with cation in patient with cardiovascular, renal impairment, diabetes mellitus, asthma, epilepsy, migraine or other condition which may be aggravated by fluid retention. They should be used with care in person with history of depression. Levonorgestrel should not be given with undiagnosed vaginal bleeding nor to those with history or current high risk of arterial disease. Levonorgestrel should not be used diagnostically for pregnancy testing and should not be given in missed or incomplete abortion.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
For oral administration: Levonorgestrel may be given alone in a single dose of 1.5mg within 72 hours of coitus. Alternatively, a dose of 750 micrograms is given within 72 hours of coitus and repeated after 12 hours. Another regimen uses the equivalent of Levonorgestrel 500 micrograms given within 72 hours of coitus and repeated after 12 hours.
